Long-standing partnership in focus: Trade fair photography for MPG&E at opti Munich
The annual kickoff event for the optometry industry has a fixed date and a fixed location: The opti in Munich. When the exhibition halls fill up in January, it's all about design, trends, and a clear overview.
For us, opti is also a firmly established tradition, as we accompany our customers. MPG&E We've been at this leading trade fair for many years. Such a long-term collaboration is something special: we know the team, understand the brand implicitly, and know exactly what matters.
The task: A visual "all-inclusive package"„
While other projects often focus on a specific aspect (only architecture or only event video), here the breadth of Trade fair photography and videography MPG&E requested comprehensive documentation that depicted the entire trade fair appearance.
The task was divided into three main areas:
- Trade fair photo: This involved high-quality documentation of the entire presentation. From wide-angle architectural shots of the exhibition stand to detailed photos of the contact lens products ("product shots") and lively snapshots of the consultations in a reportage style.
- Trade fair video: Moving images often convey the atmosphere even more directly. We captured the bustling atmosphere, the dynamism at the booth, and the highlights of the product presentation in an event film that preserves the "vibes" of the trade fair for social media and the website.
- Employee portraits: A friendly team is key to success. We took the opportunity to create professional business headshots of all contacts on-site – ideal for keeping the "About Us" pages and email signatures consistent and up-to-date.
The implementation: Between reportage and mobile studio
The challenge in this project lay in the rapid switching between photographic disciplines. We had to be flexible so as not to disrupt ongoing operations, but still deliver studio-quality results.
- Flexibility at the booth: For the reportage photos, we moved discreetly among the visitors to capture authentic moments of the consultations. For the products, we used a deliberate depth of field to highlight the small packages and bottles against the blurred background of the busy booth.
- The portrait shoot: Taking employee photos at a trade fair is a logistical challenge. We set up a small, quiet area at the booth with a mobile lighting setup. Thanks to our many years of experience working with the team, a relaxed atmosphere was immediately established, which is crucial for creating friendly and authentic employee portraits. Since we are familiar with MPG&E's corporate language, the photos blended seamlessly with the company's existing visual style.
